# Himbit recovery (optional) Himbit recovery is an extra option on top of [encrypted key backup](#key-backup). It is **off by default**. ## What it does If you tick **Himbit recovery**, Himbit support can restore your backed-up trading keys when you lose both your device and your backup password or passkey. ## What it means To make that possible, **Himbit staff could read those trading keys**. With recovery off, nobody but you can open the backup. ## If you turn it on - Use **trade-only** keys: the Hyperliquid trading key can't withdraw, and on Binance create a key without withdrawal permission. - **Never enable withdrawals** on a Binance key you back up. - You can untick recovery later from the backup's manage view. The ⓘ hint next to the option in the app says the same in short.
