Encrypted key backup

Your Hyperliquid trading key and your Binance API key live in your browser. Lose the device and they are gone, and you would have to set trading up again. Key backup is optional and keeps a copy you can restore.

What goes into the backup

  • the Hyperliquid trading key on this device (the approved key, not your wallet);
  • your Binance API key, if you choose to include it.

Your wallet's private key is never included. Wallets stay in MetaMask or your wallet app.

Set it up

Signed in with your Himbit ID, open Connections → Back up trading keys, then protect the backup with one or both of:

  • a passkey: Face ID, fingerprint or your device PIN. Synced passkeys (iCloud Keychain, Google Password Manager) also work on your new device.
  • a backup password: pick a strong one. The strength meter helps.

Tap Encrypt and back up. The keys are encrypted on your device before anything is uploaded, so Himbit can't read the backup.

Restore on a new device

Sign in on the new device and choose Restore. Unlock with your passkey or backup password, and your trading keys come back.

If you forget the backup password and lose your passkey, the backup can't be opened. Create new trading keys instead; your funds stay on the exchange.
